Education and Literacy in Ahmedabad

The Education and Literacy are two significant pillars of human development index. Every human is made equal by nature; these are learning, training and work opportunities that makes people standout in the crowd. Ahmedabad is a multicultural city and business capital of Gujarat state. Many small, medium and large business houses are situated here so work opportunities are many and hence the cultural diversity. While language of locals is Gujarati but English and Hindi is also widely spoken.
According to Census 2001 the literacy rate of Ahmedabd city was 79.89%. By the next census i.e. year 2011 literacy rate rose to 89.62 percent. If we look according to gender, male literacy was 93.96% and female literacy was 84.81%.
Education in Ahmedabad is available starting from Kindergarten. There are many schools those prepares small kids to attend formal education. Then there are schools supported by Government of State and Central Government. Also there are many privately owned schools run by individuals and trusts etc.
If we look towards higher education, Ahmedabad has many colleges, universities, institutes of higher education and research centers.
Higher education is available in basic general (arts, science, commerce), technical (engineering, medicine, computer science etc) and professional (legal, finance, management etc) disciplines. Also there are many research centers across Ahmedabad established by Government of India starting from Independence to conduct research work to benefit human society and raise the level of Ahmedabad and India at International platform. The organizations like Physical Research Laboratory are exemplary in the field of research work in science and technology.
And to those who do not go for higher education or start early work life for different reasons Ahmedabad has many technical and vocational institutions.
